Hey typo_chell, I played through your map and honestly, I’m pretty impressed with how you put it together. I can tell you really thought about creating the map and it doesn’t feel rushed at all.

There’s a big issue tho that most of the parts just don’t match today’s standards anymore. It’s clear you took a lot of inspiration from Purple Panic, but you added your own touch, which helped. especially at the end of the parts where you have different jumps to get to the next part. That was a cool idea.

Still, a lot of the gameplay felt kind of repetitive. We’ve seen this style a lot already. The freeze hammer is also super overused, and it’s basically always the same setup. But to be fair, there was one freeze hammer part I really liked. I’ll show you which one.

Maybe check out the map Offpanic sometime. That mapper found a way to keep things fun without using the same kind of moves all the time. However, I would still not get inspiration by Offpanic in structure and mapping wise, since its based on the Purple Panic series and that are not our standards today. You should rather look at some recently released Moderate/Brutal maps to get inspiration from. https://ddnet.org/releases/

If you level up your gameplay ideas a bit and show that you can do more than just the basics, I think your map could totally get released. There’s nothing wrong with your mapping itself. It’s just the gameplay that needs some work.

You have some unused images and those big images make your map-size 1.5mb+ Avoid that if you can and reduce images or avoid using unnecessary images.

I liked how the freeze hammers were set-up that you always get right into the corner. There is some tight space in some parts tho and in that part for example, I always jump against the wall.

That idea is already used in some maps and seems to be used in a worse way here. You have almost no space to move down there and basically no time to move which makes it bad.

Compare parts to other parts and balanced them out. Some are way too long and too hard, and some are just way harder than others.

They should be on the same level.

maaan, its so outdated, look at paths they so tight, map like this never release in these days. i will send my unfinished guide in dm. dont take old maps as reference. dont try to rework them. make ur own small map. like 3-5 parts , take video and share it on this channel

U will get fast feedback what u did wrong and fix it immediately and didnt copy mistakes from part to part.
