this is your map's testing channel! Post map updates here and remember to follow our mapper rules: https://ddnet.tw/rules
It's multimap with some options to unblock cluttered parts
we already changed some places of multimap, for me it would be weird to change those places again. releasing this map next to multimap is wrong.
i don't really like tune zones, the no collision tiles should be enough to make the maps better to play in t0, also you can't help your teammates at some spots now, which feels weird
wth is going on with this map xD
this map gets played alot and people are spotting some issues
the whole map is the issue, space is the most common
yes
I still don't understand why this map is so popular, there are much better maps to practice
it's long and comparebly easy i guess (the gores in the beginning is somewhat doable for beginners). we just need better long easy maps.
I fixed some parts after test. thx red and ama btw.
I have read your feelings of this map and I understand the reasons that could lead you to decline it. Feel free to do so. I started these modifications knowing that it could be seen as a useless alternative.
Before declining this i would like to hear more opinions about changing the actual version of multimap on the servers. There are issues with Multimap, but for me the best solution would be to put Multimap on Oldschool/Moderate.
in my opinion multimap should be moved to oldschool. since many players do love the map (some even purely unironically), i don't think changing is the best solution. also it does seem to fall under the category 'too broken, not fixable without major changes'
Multimap is a great map, but as i said many times already it's not suitable for beginners, and that's what the novice servers are for. New players might get intimidated if novice maps are already that hard (and multimap is extremely hard for newbies) or get a false first impression about novice maps
and at the end of the day it's a really old map and is not really reflecting the mapping quality of nowadays standards so yea, moving it to oldschool would be the best move
That's not really what i asked for, but i agree on that, too xD I wanted opinions if there are small fixes to multimap we could do, without destroying the nostalgia.
you dont have to fix the map if it's on oldschool
i'd say lets not fix it, oldschool maps are oldschool and if you play maps in that category, you gotta adapt to that style of maps
It also seemed like 2 mappers wanted to create some alternatives for Multimap. I guess we can argue about moving Multimap, after having a proper replacement.
Currently many players are on Multimap and suffering, maybe we should stop the suffering? We should also ask ourselves, why that map is so popular.
People like to suffer bexouse after the beat parts that they suck on they become stronger, feel improvement and get enjoyed
Multimap is ideal noob map
They don't learn many mechanics in this map and beginners can't beat the parts anyways, they rather get dragged through.
You are not beginner to tell what they do and do not learn. You also can't tell why they play it, while I'm beginner myself can tell why that's happening.
Ddnet is challenging game with cooperative help, that's what makes multimap that popular. Chinese servers also prove it.
Well i talked to beginners and tried to understand how beginners think/feel.
You can make a cooperative map without making it this annoying
I am a beginner player and I spent my first hours playing on this map. I remember how difficult it was to get out of certain parts when other players were stuck there too. However, this map is still a map I had a great time on and I wanted to be able to make minor modifications to improve the gameplay as much as possible in full server state.
Anyway, could transferring multimap to oldschool servers prevent the map from being played by 64 players?
not really, if we would change that 64 player thing, we would have to change alot of maps, my solution is that we should create better maps than multimap, that take it's place
well new players wouldnt see multimap, since they only get novice servers
That seems to make sense
@Welfnot really, if we would change that 64 player thing, we would have to change alot of maps, my solution is that we should create better maps than multimap, that take it's place
the limit of 64 player thing has no need to be changed. The question was asked the way patiga understood.
ohh i see
Thank you for your help. I will continue to think about soft solutions in case the multimap transfer on the oldschool servers does not prevent the servers from being full.
(or not if the map is has not to be changed)
if you want to suggest some changes to multimap, do that in the
#mappingchannel, changes on the map would be a big thing so i would prefer to discuss that openly. we don't need a 2nd multimap, so i decline this map if you want to help with novice maps, you can test the novice maps on the test servers, i think your perspective can be really usefull for us 🙂
$decline
Alright i'll try to help as i can.
