I'm not really sure about this map, the idea looks cute and i dont understand the doors system, so it would be nice if you explained it to me. I assume that it's based on what computers do? Cool. Sadly the design is rather poor and one calculation takes a whole minute, so spending time on the map is boring. Would be nice, if you could speed up the process. Also there is a similar map to this one, which you should take a look at, if you don't know it https://ddnet.org/maps/Time-32-Calculator

aside from the technical stuff:

you dont need to mark all the boxes where the calculations happen, everybody is gonna view them in entities anyway


@mapper you can put that link into a tune zone somewhere in the map, i can help you with that

i think people confused about this are gonna need alot more than a wikipedia link

you can just use one from the game layer if you want it to be on forever

theres many other qol changes you can make, like changing the spawn area, the tileset, the instructions, inputs, etc

but im not gonna comment on that as most of it is personal preference

some notes:

make the leftmost digit on the output the full 3x3 door as the rest, i think it'll look better

line up the input jumps to the actual digits

do smth like such so your background isn't super boring

u can even make patterns in the dark blue part in screenshot above (simple diamond pattern would be good (π·π·)

find a better font tileset, or render a non-monospaced font yourself and add it as a quad

either make your 'info' more descriptive, or just remove it altogether (right now it doesn't really tell the player much, most of the steps are automated by the map anyways)

line the main rectangle blocks up in a symmetrical way (easy to do, just select every game layer and use the entire block as a brush)

make the start hole symmetrical as well

the start hole doesnt need a dragger, simple tele will work

you can make this look cleaner by putting a half tile of light blue background in front of the laser door parts that stick out

switches still work fine even inside teleports, theres no reason you cant move them down a tile

grey and light blue dont contrast well

my monitor is old and has a strange-ish shape, a bunch of maps have backgrounds like that for me

sorry for making you do more work:

instead of 'be patient, wait 20 seconds', i suggest you make a vertical progress bar

from top to bottom, since ur tee teleports downwards as the calculation happens, you can make a white quad that goes upwards (or downwards with >100 parallax)

and make a little slot for it with more quads

technical side of the map seems to be ok, havent taken the time to understand it though but it works fast and gives the correct result

have you tried all possibilities? π

id rather not

but if for example module 1 works perfectly then a copy of that module should work perfectly as well (as long as ddnet doesnt bug out)


maybe there is a way to speedup the process (removing ground friction e.g.)

~~i think the map can be broken by jumping while hitting the from 1 teleporter (you can jump the frame when you enter the to teleporter) i think a tune on the to teleporter (tuning air jump impulse and ground jump impulse to 0) can fix it XD~~

nvm, there is freeze on the from teleporter :x

not sure what went wrong (maybe i tested the wrong examples), my testing didnt improve the time, but if you use the ground_friction tune, you can avoid some of the speeders to make the map look better in entities, but that's rather optional

since teleports and game tiles can sometimes hide switches and other tiles
